I remember it was Tuesday. We were at Baca di Tebet at that time. It was quiet. So quiet that the clackity-click-clack sound on Vania's laptop doing her work is the only sound that I could heard. Beside her, There was me, reading "Tender Is the Flesh" by Agustina Bazterrica on my new fresh secondhanded Kindle which I still adore until now.
And out of nowhere, I tap her shoulder. "Van, gue pengen join book club gitu, deh. tapi gue males kalo ada Book of the Month-nya gitu. gue pengen suka suka gue aja baca bukunya. Trus gue males kalo harus yapping soal buku di depan banyak strangers. Jadi gue pengen Klub buku yang isi anggotanya cuman bisa dihitung pake jari.
"Hmmm.. iya, sih. Tapi gue juga pengen deh, join klub buku kayak gitu."
"Nah. kalo gue bikin Klub Buku, trus isinya cuman kita berdua doang, lu mau gak?"
"Boleh, boleh." Vania nodding not missing a beat.

[2025-01-16] Instagram Captions: From the national-awakening Pramoedya's quartet to a slaughterhouse worker's daily life in a cannibalistic dystopia, this month, we're just trying to reread some stuffs and finish the book we already began in December. 📖🍃
And that was it! Tiba tiba 'Mild Book Club' lahir dibawah langit Capricorn, which I think its characteristics pretty aligned with our vibes in this book club. We're really trying to be consistent but as chill as possible. We don't wanna rush the reading. One books per month is totally fine. 'alon alon asal kelakon' type shit. And if we don't feel like to continue reading one books, just DNF it and move on.
